Meet the Pastor

Pastor David Matheson

Pastor David Matheson and Family[/caption]Pastor David Matheson has been serving as the Pastor at Valleytown Baptist Church since November 2023. With a heart for the Gospel and a passion for people, Pastor David is committed to helping others grow in their relationship with Jesus Christ and live out their faith in
everyday life.

Pastor David was called into the ministry in March 2022 at the age of 49. He served as the Associate Pastor at Cedar Cliff Baptist Church in Robbinsville under the shepherding of the Reverend Daniel Stewart before he was called to Valleytown. He has lived a life of service to
his community in Robbinsville, North Carolina, working in public education for 28 years as a teacher, coach, and principal, and now serves as Assistant Superintendent of Graham County Schools. Pastor David cherishes the opportunity that God has set before him by placing him in the Andrews community at Valleytown Baptist Church. His close ties with The Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) have opened doors for the church to evangelize in Andrews Middle School and grow the church’s ministry throughout the community. More than anything, Pastor David is thankful for the mercy and grace provided at Calvary by his Savior, Jesus Christ.

Pastor David and his wife, Kim, have been married for 31 years and have two adult children— son Skyler and wife Chantal, granddaughter Berkley, and daughter Karlyn. Outside of church, he enjoys hunting, fishing, golfing, and spending time with his family.
